Here's a rundown of how you can help Optimize your website for search engines, aka SEO [search engine optimization]
When people search for things on search engines they use what is called a search term, the results that are given to the user ordered by an algorithm to determine what is the most relevant results. This algorithm takes into account several criteria including: the amounts of links from other websites to your content, the appearance of the search terms on the page, it's description, it's headers and keywords.
Whilst we can't take care of creating links to your site we can make it easier for you to keyword up your content and supply a descriptions etc.
When you search on google, the results are shown with a snippet of text from the page contents, this content is also similarly shown when people like or share links from sites on facebook.
If you don't have any text on the page it may show up captions attached to images, or maybe just the contents of your menu... none of this is ideal when it comes to your viewers chosing to view your content. What you want to do is entice the user to view the content by describing clearly what the content of the link will be.
You can do this by adding content to the Excerpt area.
Some users may notice that the excerpt area is hidden for them, if this is the case, click the screen options in the top right corner and make sure the excerpt checkbox is ticked.
When you search on google, the results are shown with a title of the page, this content is also similarly shown when people like or share links from sites on facebook. The title is made up of a combination of the website's main title and the title of the post, gallery, page or category or the content.
The page titles are also used as the default text for the bookmarks people may make on your pages, so you want it to be as descriptive as possible.
If the post/page in question is for a single piece of work, make sure the title contains that name, try to avoid using repeptive names such as "untitled" or "blog post" always make sure they are as unique as possible.
In addition to your domain name, the url/slug of your content can make an effect on SEO. Make sure it's relevant to your content. If the post/page in question is for a single piece of work, make sure the url/slug contains that name.
These should be everything you'd like people to find your work through. From the subject and your own names, to locations and even camera equipment if you are that way inclined.
To add these you should head to the tags section. Here you can add a comma seperated list of tags to attach to your post. Make sure you update the post after you've completed this.
Ensure that you have captions on your images, even if you aren't displaying them in your design, they are used to output information in the alt and title tags (used by search engines such as google image search as well as screen readers for the visually impaired).
On your dashboard's menu, you should see All in One SEO.
All in one SEO is a fantastic tool for tweaking a few settings

Similar to the description, this section is essential for applying keywords to your homepage if you're using a custom homepage via a theme.
